Josh Sterling is a certified College Planning Specialist who joined the team at APSG in January of 2009. Josh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University where he played for the Sonoma State Men’s Soccer team each year. His passion for soccer and desire to help young people achieve their athletic and academic goals directed the next 10 years of his life.

Upon graduation he spent 8 years as an Assistant Coach for the men’s soccer program at SSU, helping incoming student athletes with admissions and financial aid applications. During those years, he began his own business, Sterling Soccer, and he created the Sonoma County Alliance soccer club which has become one of the top clubs in Northern California. As the director of coaching, he saw the club grow from four to twenty-six teams and he directed over 20 coaches and trainers.

His concern and interest for young people and his experiences working with them in youth soccer encouraged him to further his education about college funding and, so he could help them make their dreams a reality. During that process, he saw the need for an organized and central planning service and learned that APSG shared his vision.

Josh became one of only six hundred nationwide Certified College Planning Specialists (CCPS) after passing his examinations in January 2009. He is the process of obtaining his securities and insurance licenses. He and his wife, Kristy, and their two sons make their home in Petaluma, CA.
